A small guide about what you can find near:
Take the road towards Souda Port. In 2 km you will find a Bakery – Pastry Shop, they sell delicacies for breakfast and snacks and make coffee. Next to it is a Mini Market – Newsstand – Tobacconist where you can find among other things milk, cold juices and frozen beers. A Bowling Center and Movies complete the complex.
After the Mini Market take the first road to your right, turn left at the top of the street, towards Chania city. A small Super Market (2.8 km) is located there, a spot where you can quickly buy your groceries and green groceries. Continue towards the city, you will find two Gas Stations, open during the day. Next to the BP gas station there is a deli shop, Kritiko Ergastiri (3.1 km) specializing in Cretan delicacies. We strongly recommend that you try them. If you continue this road you will go towards Chania.
If you continue the road towards Souda Port, you will find by the seaside Fish Taverns (3.2 km). There is also a beach, but despite its looks it is not the best place to swim. Further down, right at the traffic lights you will find a Pharmacy (4.6 km). There is a first aid kit at the Residence which includes basic medicines for emergency cases, but if you need anything else, you can easily buy it, as a great number of medicines can be sold in Greece without medical prescription. In Souda town (5.5 km) there are large Super Markets offering a great variety of products including fresh meat and cheese. Coffee Shops near the port open very early in the morning to accommodate travellers arriving by boat. Banks are located near the main town square as well as Pharmacies.
At the traffic lights before Souda town, turn right and then follow the signs towards the National Road (6.7 km). This road will take you to the west end of the island, or to the east to the cities of Rethymno, Heraclion, Agios Nikolaos and many other places. Study your maps and decide where you want to go.
Take the road towards the airport. After the roundabout you will find a crossroad that leads to the village of Kounoupidiana (4.5 km). A variety of Shops are serving the needs of the students of the National Technical University which is located there. You will also find there many Taverns serving meat dishes. Supermarket Chalkiadakis is the largest supermarket in the area.
On the road towards the airport, you will find the pastry shop Oneira Glyka (3.2 km) which serves excellent ice-cream.
Further on this road you will pass the village Aroni (5.1 km). Gas stations, Pharmacies, Butcher shop, Car Repair shop, Coffee Shops plus a Super Mini Market open 7:00 – 23:00, 7 days per week, with a well-stocked liquor department are located next to the main road.
At the roundabout just before the airport you will see the signs towards the old Monasteries of Agia Triada (12 km) and Gouverneto (16 km).
Take the road towards the airport, at the first roundabout take the exit towards Chania. It is the easiest way to the city. On your right, you will find the famous Nychterida gourmet restaurant (2.7 km). Continue towards the city. The next roundabout will take you to Venizelos Graves (4,8 km), an important landmark of the city with a stunning view of Chania and the sunset. Continuing the road that passes behind Venizelos’ Graves, you will find the renown cafe Koukouvagia (5 km), the pastry shop with the best sweets and the best view.
Stay on the main road to Chania, it will lead you directly to the city center. You will pass first Halepa (7 km) neighbourhood, then the junction that leads to Dikastiria (Justice Hall) and will arrive to the Agora, the Central Market (8.7 km). Park there and explore the Old City and the Old Harbour. Taverns serving traditional Cretan food are found in every small street and corner of the Old City so do not hesitate to explore every narrow street and alley. You will be amazed at what you might discover around every corner. Remember to take a photo of the Lighthouse, Chania’s most famous landmark.
